Fighting ISIS: Barack Obama asks U.S. Congress for war powers

Thomson Reuters, February 11, 2015 at 10:45 AM

This article, about war and conflict talks about the ISIS terrorists and how Obama is planning to target them. U.S. President, Obama asked Congress to authorize military force in the campaign against ISIS. Obama also wants to repeal the 2002 authorization for force in Iraq, but keep a 2001 authorization against Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. This request calls for targeting ISIS and associated forces involved in the fighting of the U.S. or its coalition partners. It provides no geographic limits in battle, and bans U.S. ground troops from “enduring U.S. offensive ground combat". Obama said his goal is to “degrade and defeat ISIS". Obama also said that special U.S. forces would be used on the ground if, for example, there was a gathering of ISIS leaders and U.S. forces were in the help position to take action. Both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives must approve the proposal. The Democrats are concerned about another Middle East War, but many Republicans want stronger measures against ISIS. Obama must get their approval so that he does not exceed the constitutional authority. The world needs to see that the United States "Speaks with one voice against ISIS". This article connects to the world right now. Isis is a very evil and dangerous terrorist group and must be stopped. Every nation should stand up because; there is no limit to what ISIS can do. For example, they can continue killing and destroying people and things around them without care of the consequences. This is a crime against humanity. In conclusion, Barack Obama is doing everything he can to stop this terrorism.
